Timeless Flagstone Floors
Using time-honoured techniques, Norton Stone & Masonry Ltd’s flagstones offer timeless character and exceptional durability to gardens and hallways. These flat, natural stones, typically cut from sandstone, limestone, or slate, have been used for centuries to create hardwearing floors, paths, and patios. Their natural variation in colour, texture, and shape makes them particularly appealing for traditional settings, though they can also bring warmth and depth to contemporary designs.
Each slab is carefully selected and laid to suit the space, be it a listed home, a bespoke interior floor, or a cottage. The stone is laid in a coursed or random pattern, with practical features such as drainage, finish, and jointing factored into the design.
Reclaimed flagstones are especially sought-after for stone conservation and can be seamlessly integrated into designs. The aged appearance of reclaimed material creates a maturity that, though we seek to recreate it with new materials, cannot be replicated. Where stone restoration work is needed, we clean and repoint existing flagstone using lime mortars to preserve its appearance and integrity. With the right master stonemason, flagstones can last for generations, providing beauty and resilience for years to come.
